Bethel University Meet Up!
Our Subversive Sewing Circle has been chosen for a Bethel University Meet-Up!
If you are interested, PLEASE sign up on the Bethel University Website!
Do you love to create quilts? Do you knit or crochet or cross stitch? Does the sound of thread pulling through cloth bring you peace? Then this circle may be for you!
Come with your favorite fiber craft to work on and talk about the history of sewing circles in supporting women through community building and quiet activism.
The subversive sewing circle is a way for women and our allies to come together to enjoy community and conversation while we create. It was an excuse to gather and support each other through the ages and has gained new importance in our fast paced world. Sewing circles have been popular during times of war and depression to encourage mending of clothes and linens. Now, sewing circles naturally challenge the fast fashion industry and encourage a more sustainable attitude toward the clothing that we wear and the blankets and quilts that keep us warm through the long cold winters. Please join me to work on our mind set of “make due and mend.”
I will have some baked treats. Bring your own beverages and while you should feel free to “pre-game,” THC products cannot be consumed/smoked on the premesis.
